Puff Puff is another small chop snack option; a tasty
round deep fried dough of flour, yeast, and sugar mix with warm water. Puff pastry
does not require so much ingredient compare to other small chop snacks.
It's a popular street snacks in most West African
Countries and goes with different names according to each Country. Nigerians
calls it Puff-Puff same as the Cameroonians, Ghana calls it Bofrot or Togebi,
while French refer to it as Beignet.
Homemade Puff-Puff recipe is so easy to make with
the main ingredients which is Flour, sugar, and yeast. However, one can easily
adjust either by adding more ingredients like making puff puff with pepper and
milk.
Puff puff calories are slightly high but using a
good oil for frying will help and reducing the quantity of sugar in your recipe

Ingredients

cups of All-purpose flour

tablespoon active yeast
·
1/2
cup sugar
·
1/2
teaspoon salt
·
1/2
teaspoon nutmeg (Optional)
·
Vegetable
oil for frying
·
Warm
water for mixing
Method of
Preparation
1.
First,
mix the yeast and warm water and allow to proof for like 10 minutes, set aside

Secondly,
mix all dry ingredients in a bowl, the flour, salt, sugar, and nutmeg

Mix
the yeast and all dry ingredients together to attain a good batter; the
consistency shouldn't be too thick. Cover and keep in a warm place for the next
1-2 hours, this process enables it rise fully.
4.
In
a frying pan, heat your vegetable oil.
Ensure you pour enough oil in the frying pan else your puff will be flat
like pancake. so, scoop in the batter into the hot oil with ice cream scoop or
use you hand to make a ball shape/round
shape. Finally, fry to brown on both sides
5.
Remove
from oil and transfer into a line paper
towel to drain as it cools off.
Serve
and enjoy with favorite cold drink or hot chocolate
